New system, Nick if you would

Postby uhntissbaby111 » Sun Dec 28, 2008 5:29 pm

after being away from FS for a few years, i decided to get back into it with a new system. and after doing nothing but research in the past couple weeks, it seems like nick is the guy to talk to. after reading your posts nick, i decided to go with this system

i7 940
WD velociraptor 300gb SATA
GTX 280 SSC edition from EVGA
PC power and cooling 750W PSU
OCZ gold 6gb 3X2 ddr3 1600 ram
asus P6T delux mobo
64 bit vista

i still have to pick out a case and a heatsink and fan. any recommendations? i would like to keep the case price under $200.

So what do you think of this system? i am willing to learn to OC and i will only be flying heavy airliners, such as the MD-11 and might get some addon scenery and for sure ASA. any help would be appreciated.

I'm not Nick, but I'll throw in my opinion..

you'll do very well with that system.. for the heatsink+fan for the CPU, get this:

for the case.. that's up to you. just find something that will be easy to work with and make sure everything you have will fit into it nicely. I personally went with the Antec 900 but will probably have to do some mods

Towers are your choice

I only buy towers that have wire fan grills because perf metal blocks up to 50% of the airlfow and increases fan noise 10x

The rest of the parts are fine and you will need the HSF Andy posted if you really wish to get the most out of the clock

Use OCZ Freeze Thermal compound
