Is Vista 64 Okay for FSX SP2 ?

Postby GabethePilot » Mon Nov 03, 2008 12:55 pm

Hi All,

Considering going over to the dark-side - Vista mainly so I can throw a decent amount of memory at FSX.

Will FSX work okay and what about addons ?  Is it a case of some will - some won't ?

Thnx.

Vista 64 works fine for me, and I've had no problem with installers as yet.

I turned off UAC altogether (Administrator Control)
I turned off Aero
I turned off Defender

I turned off indexing as I use Acronis for imaging.

As my computer is a home machine, is not networked and I am not into porn of any sort - even the hard-core stuff like derivatives - I don't need a password.

NOD 32 is my shield and defence!

And when running FSX I stop a number of services such as Nero and printer services, updaters and the like.  They all come back on re-start. Some use Alacrity as a service stopper, but I wasn't happy with the experience so I do it myself.  However, one of these days I will learn how to create a profile, but that's a long way off with my skills.
