Is a 9600 better for gaming or the same or worse than a 8800?
As the 9600 is alot cheaper i'm have a tight budget it seams better to buy.
Any one got anything to say?
Or an 9500 and 9400
The 8800 is better that the 9600. Most people suggest to go for the 8800 Ultra, then the GTX, then the GT.
As a guide in the nVidia numbering system. The first number is the series, the second is the level or range. The higher it is, the more powerful it is. Also the letters mean something too. a GTX is generally better than the GT and an Ultra is better than both.
So even though the 9600, 9500 and 9400 are in a higher series, their ranges and power are all lower than the 8800 thus why they are cheaper.
Your Radeon is AGP...
EDIT: Just noticed you plan to acquire an Asus SLI mobo..be VERY careful if you overclock (its more than just pushing the FSB rate up you know) the CPU, because some boards don't support o/cing.
Its not just, "I will get a new CPU, relatively low in power, but cheap, I can O/C it."
