Fs2004-FSX

I want to add FSX to my computer, I presently use FS2004. First, will my  machine run FSX ok? Pentium 4 2.53ghz, Nvdia Geforce FX5500 with 256 ram, 2gig system ram. Secondly, my machine has 2 hard drives, my C drive is very full but my second drive has loads of space. Can I install FSX on my second drive and run it sucessfully?

Your system will stuggle with FSX AT BEST, but yes, you should be able to install it to any drive you choose. Even my system (not great by today's standards) won't run it with what I would call acceptable levels of performance.

You will probably get bad frames at minimal settings. FSX really needs at least a 1.8GHz dual core and I suggest a 512mb card now.

Hello, I have a very similar setup for running both sims from a USB drive 300gb. You have a little faster CPU. mine 1.8ghz. I do get some very good FPS so you should be okay. Go ahead I would.

Thanks for your replys, 2 against, 1 for, leaves me still undecided.
Maybe I will just have to try it and see........unless there are any other opinions.

The system will run it, but what are you expecting from it? I can say now it's not going to be impressive.

You can install it just fine but don't complain about if its lacking performance you wanted.  And hey if it doesn't work the way you want it to, there's this magical button that will un-install the program. That DVD it came on will last a good long time so you can save it till you get a better computer  ;D

Oh! Avoid cities to improve frame rates... There's nothing interesting in them for a flight sim anyway  ;)

Wouldn't even bother with that system, FS9 will give you much more enjoyment visually and actually be somewhat smooth.

I think the FSX Demo is still available, why not try it out and see how your system takes to it?
