New Graphics card, need help with choosing...

Postby AMDDDA » Mon Jul 07, 2008 4:29 pm

Alright, I have been a good boy and am going to get 500$ for copying receipts and i want to replace my 8600 GTS with something great.

The only restrictions for this is:
1. Under 400$ (I'm saving some for some add-ons)
2. Only needs one 6 pin power input, but if it's low enough, I may be able to buy a new PSU to support a dual 6 pin one...
So suggest both CHEAP dual 6 pins or higher end single 6 pin cards.

:-*

Thanks in advance.

Would this support it?

And also, would this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814143119 run FS well?

180$ leaves me 320 for a new motherboard, which is about the price of the one I want.

Don't know about the PSU (A $60 500W looks kind of shoddy to me, someone else will give there opinion on that) but the GTS G92 is definitely the next best thing under the GTX/Ultra which is best for FSX.

Scratch the 400$, I am actually getting 10%, which right now is looking like 700$+!

I'll say 550 max now ;D.

Do you all think I should wait for the 4870 X2? o.O

Either the ATi 4870 with the new CAT 8.7 Beta driver

or

A 8800GTX 768 or Ultra

the 280 is also a good card with the right driver

the x2 will be another month or so

The 280's are now at 470$ for the ones I see on newegg  :o

I can probably wait, as the person still has to review which expenses are already paid for, but I'm getting no less than 600$ with the expenses that are fo sho.

I think the 4870 X2 will kill the 280 in most apps due to it's already amazing single card performance.
