Still using "Powerplay" to mute idle temps, and of course (a concern to all gamers) save power?! ;D I Don't know what ATI was doing when they came up with Powerplay, but I'm pretty sure a pooch was involved. Rather than release a new card that uses this feature, they would have done well to try to FIX Powerplay (or better yet remove it altogether) on the cards that are already out.

The card is idling at 160Mhz on the core, and 500 Mhz (1000Mhz effective) on the memory. Call me crazy, but I really don't want my video card "telling" ME when it's going to run at it's full potential. There is just far too much opportunity for lag and disappointment there. I'd rather get a card that is always revved up and ready to go!

If this feature equated to performance issues yes I would be concerned but it doesn

I tried a 3850 (agp) and I couldn't ship it back fast enough. Just more hassle than it's worth. Just my opinion.

I have an ATI 3870 along with an Nvidia 8800 Ultra and now the new GTX 280.
