How to Remove Start up items

Postby Dan Morera » Mon Feb 11, 2008 9:20 am

Hi guys I was checking the start-up items on my work computer using spybot, I found a couple of things I need to take out, I have tried unchecking them on spybot but after a restart they just come back up checked.

The items are:

crypt32chain
senslogn

Here's a screen shot of my start up in case you notice something weird in there please let me know.

Also before I forget, someone uninstalled my spybot and I reinstalled it, but now I can't update and can't check for problems, it gives me an error related to the updater.

Thanks
Dan

Dan you need to install a handy little utility called EasyCleaner http://personal.inet.fi/business/toniarts/ecleane.htm then you run the Startup option and can remove things you don't want on startup.
Then uninstall Spybot and run the Registry option and find the entry for Spybot and remove it then reinstall it.
That should sort everything for you ;)

Hi,

you could remove the stuff that you don't want when you start up by going start > run > msconfig > startup and unchecking the items you don't need.

EasyCleaner sounds fine, but isn't the trick knowing what to remove?

Thanks Ozzy, a couple of questions:

I check the start up feature on this program and the items I see on spybot are not there (but then again I know spybot is not working properly), any idea why I don't see them?

How do I now which one is the spybot registry key? I see a huge list and nothing says spybot?  :-[

DAN, thats the TEA TIMER part of spybot which you were suppose to UNCHECK that feature when you installed spybots... it is NOT NEEDED.

I dont have time to look over this right now but will try to get a look at it ion a day or so... in the mean time, Ozzy is a good tech and you are in good hands

Hi guys I still got this problem, I uncheck a couple of item on the start up list  (from the spybot advance / tools menu)  if I close spybot and open it again they are checked again, if I restart same thing.

Could someone please tell me how to get rid of these, I recently was the victim of someone using my credit card number to get a paypal account and buy some stuff, so I'm a little paranoid about this stuff now.

By the way teatimer is not the problem it just showed in bold in the screenshot by chance.

my real problem are :
crypt32chain
senslogn

Thanks in advance
Dan

Try Startup Control Panel. It's a free download and works on everything from Windows 98 through Vista. I've used it many times with no troubles.

Use CCleaner, I have always gotten EVERY feature to work with it =).

And it's free.

It also has a great registry cleaner.

Sorry Nick if you don't recommend it, but for me it's awesome :).

if you do know the name of the applications you don't want on your startup, i'd recommend you go by msconfig, like mynameisnemo said...

go to Start -> run -> type msconfig -. go to 'startup' tab and uncheck those items

you'll be prompted to restart your computer, that's not really necessary... but when do you start it back up again later on, you'll get a warning message saying you're running windows in 'selective startup' or something like that... just check that don't warn me again tickbox and close it with the option that doesn't launch the startup manager... (which would be msconfig again anyways)...

and that's it... hopefully...
