OK (hope Nick is reading).. this is where my ignorance really shines..

I just downloaded the 9.46 nForce m-board drivers. It's a self-install, just like v-card drivers, which is where my confusion sets in. I always thought that this was akin to a BIOS flash.. NOT something you can just auto install.

That aside... the drivers seem to be for everything. I went ahead and ran the auto installer.. and had several drivers to choose from. I opted NOT to install ethernet and "smart media" drivers and DID choose the other two (their names seemed appropriate to this problem).

ANYway.. I'll report back and ask if we're on the same page.

Rumdog... is this what you've done..?  9.46 m-board drivers ?

OK.. tis done   (I knew I kept that floppy drive for a reason)

I always hold my breath during a BIOS flash..  looks like it survived,  'cause I'm here.. lol

I'll report back later..

Sorry.. I just saw this

Rumdawd is correct, those are MB drivers and you should always keep those up to date.. the BIOS flash is different as you discovered

So they attacked it from the motherboard side, eh?

Actually that makes sense to me.. In doing so the drivers, not matter what version will automatically register to the chipset change and make the required core/card change.

Lets see if the second one nets the same result

Just an update... so far, so good..  Though there is a weird 1/10th of a second blackout, about every 15 minutes or so.. not much more than a flicker, so I can live with it..

I can't help but think that this "fix" is catching a problem, and the resolution causes the flicker..  Who knows :-/

I'll take a look next time I play to see if I get the same flicker. That might just be the "fix" preventing the artifacting from starting up.
