Most of that stuff may be true next gen. ;)

Looks amazing compared to the current line up of hardware but there will be mixed results.

Meh.

Two years ago people were talking about how awsome the Core 2 would be - now, it's a computer. It's a computer.

Nothing to imagine when you play with the hardware not yet on the market

but coming very soon

However it will not be until Nehalem that the true DDR3 bandwidth is used. Right now you lose 35% of the memory bandwidth to the northbrige memory controller and that is one of the things that Nellie will fix... so your looking at an automatic 40% increase in real world performance and that is the lowest estimated amount... for a pro a 60+% increase over today is quite possible by second iteration of Nehalem

which by the way looks something like this...

and if you dont know anything about SUPERPI... that 1M test @ 8.32 seconds on a UNCLOCKED X58 Nellie @ 1333 is INSANE to try and get with even the best LN2 system on 5+GHz

WOW!

You should Thermalright 120 it and get it to 4.5 or something.  :D SuperPI 1m in 2.5 seconds?

why have 12 TB of old hard drives when you can have SSDs ::)

or Fusion IO to be precise... it dwarfs any other kind of storage device in terms of data speed... by a mile :o

the bad side it that it can cost up to 25k US$ :o  but since this is a hypothetical rig we're talking about, go nuts!!

i'd post a link to it, but i'm not at home right now... and i'm posting from my mobile ::)

Cheers

HarvesteR... addicted to SimV to the point that I carry it around in my pocket ;)
