Shopping around for new PC

My friend helped me figure out about what I'd need for a MoBo/PSU, but the rest I took on my own.

Thoughts/suggestions/ideas?

It's supposed to be a gaming rig of sorts, (FSX, Crysis, Modern MMO's; High end games in general)

Those are links to the pieces I'm looking into. Looks solid to me, however this would be the first computer I've bought for myself, as well as the first one I'd be building piece-by-piece.

It's a bit more than I was looking to spend, but it's exactly what I'd want, plus room to upgrade.

Before shipping and such, the total is looking to be around $1100.

Nice, but that videocard is a slow pile of crap. Radeon 3870 or above (8800GT 512 or above when nvidia). To be honest I don't like that motherboard. I'd much rather go with a more expensive DDR3 / PCI-E 2.0 supporting X48 board, or a cheaper Gigabyte P35C-DS3R. It's possible that you may get more performance out of a 3.16ghz dual.

Get a Mac Pro with two quad cores clocked at 3.06 GHz

I do like Quad Core's, but if the E8400 will out-perform the Q6600 or comparable Quad when it comes to high-end gaming, then I might just   go for it.

Problem with that is with a dual core you get BLURRIES in FSX. I would get the Q6600 and get the eVGa 8800GT 512mb.

That's what I figured. I really did want the Quad, even if apparently the latest Q6600's have had issues with Overclocking, which I wouldn't do much of if anything.

The quad is definitely better for FSX even though it's not clocked as high as the E8400.  True;  For gaming a faster dual core is better.  But FSX really needs a quad to handle all the scenery loading-especially if you have addons.

You CAN get a Q6600, even the latest ones, up to 3.0 - 3.2 GHz and perhaps further with a moderate overclock.  Anything less than that and ANY cpu will struggle with FSX.  My Gigabyte GA-P35-DS4 handles the quads really well, I don't know how that Abit board will do.

Whatever you get don't expect a whole lot from it for FSX without overclocking-even an E8400.

With Windows XP, SP2; FSX with SP1 and 2; FSX runs great on my current system, which is nothing to be impressed with. A $500 budget computer at I could get at my work is far better than this.

Weather was set decently. Most settings were at 50% or so, except traffic which I don't care much for.

This rig as it is, runs great for what I use FSX for. A better rig means I just get more goodies.

What I really want it for is to run more higher end games; Crysis, Age of Conan, newer and better games.
