video card question

video card question

i already have a gts 8800 320 mb, but what i want to know is that if it is possible to put a 8800 640 mb with it .




i will appreciated your help.

As in run it in SLi mode?

I believe they have to be the same model, so it would have to be a GTS one. Not sure about the memory size though.

For SLi I think it has to be the same GPU and the same clock and the same speed memory but not the same amount of memory. Don't take my word for it though. You might want to contact nvidia or evga or whoever your buying it from.

what hits me is that both cards are the same in mostly everything but the memory.

SLI will work even if the clock speeds and memory size are different.  As long as the GPU is the same then they will work together.  Granted, the faster/more memory card will act like the slower/less memory card. What I mean is that the card that has more will either lower its usable memory or its clock speeds to match the card other card.

i call nvidia and they told me that the only thing is that the clock speed will go down to match the lowest speed witch is nothing really,
