Which ever is better at a specific price / timeframe that I have in mind. Previously it was ATi X850, then ATi X1800... Now 8800GT.

My 1st ever card was a ATI Radeon 9600 PRO. That card did it for me and had it in my box for 3 years.

I then upgraded my entire system and got the Geforce GT 8600GT XXX edition. Had the card for less then 8 months. I was fed up.

I then bought the ATI HD3870x2. Im back on track, guess I'll stick with ATI from now on  ;)

I've always been an nVidia man (still am)...following 3DFX Voodoo....

....but I must confess that I have had terrible "Artifact" problems with my nVidia Ti 4200, 6600 GT and 7800 GS cards, particularly with S-T-A-L-K-E-R, 18 Wheels of Steel, and FS 2004.... :'(...!

The cards have never been over-clocked, and always adequately cooled, but still have given me annoying, horizontal, white, Artifact "strips" appearing on the screen... >:(...!

Paul....7800 GS AGP.... 8-)...!
Win 8.1 64-bit. DX11. Advent Tower. Intel i7-3770 3.9 GHz 8-core. 8 GB System RAM. AMD Radeon HD 7700 1GB RAM. DVD ROM. 2 Terra Byte SATA Hard Drive. Philips 17" LCD Monitor. Saitek Cyborg X Fly-5 Joystick. ...and a Briggs and Stratton Petrol Lawn Mower.

At the moment my nVidia 7800 GS card is the fastest AGP card currently available for me....
If I want/need something faster now, I would have to throw away my Motherboard, Processor, Graphics Cards, and Memory Chips, and start all over again with a PCIe Motherboard.... BIG Expense!...but at the moment, what I have, adequately runs all the Software Games that I prefer to play...my FSX is out of the question!..;)..but FS 2004 is fine, running flat out!...so it suits me!

Paul.... 8-)...!

Socket A, AMD 2600 MMX, AGP, 2.3 GB Ram, Gigabyte K7 Motherboard... :-*...!

P.S. ..out of all my "Modern" Games, FSX is the only one which is completely unusable with my present set-up....everything else is hunky-dory.... [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]...!

Radeon 3850 AGP should work. :) Not sure if it's much faster than 7800GS+. :)

ATI - Mostly quality drivers and great products, a bit behind.
nVidia - OK drivers and powerful products, trying to leap ahead, but failed.

For FSX

Nvidia for performance and ATi for image quality, although the IQ on ATi in my opinion is not worth the performance loss with FSX

And with either one you can easily get screwed if you dont know how to spec a card... the higher revision number in Nvidia does not mean squat, although with ATi you do typically was the highest number.
