Northwood or Prescott

Postby Groundbound1 » Sun Apr 27, 2008 1:49 pm

Which do you think would give better FS9 performance. A P4 Northwood core, with and L2 cache of 512K @ 3.2Ghz, of a P4 Prescott core, with a 1MB L2 cache @ 3.0Ghz? (or would it not make that much difference?)

Just trying to pach another old system together to tide me over for a while.

If it matters, it would be on an Asus P4C800, with 2GB pc-3200.

I would say that the 1MB cache would help your performance more than the .2 GHz.

They should both be dirt cheap right now so go grab a 6x1 series 3.2 - 3.8ghz Cedarmill. Prescott on 65nm.
