...DDR3 memory?

http://www.memoryc.com/computermemory/d ... 14400.html

That's the ticket lads

You must know how to use it. There is no such thing as "plug-n-go" when it comes to performance

That stuff is hitting incredible speeds with low CAS latency maintained. The CAS rating is just there for the company to post stable values.. they been hitting CAS6 @ 1600 on it and CAS7 at 1900-2000

And the price is dirt cheap

Scottish accent on..

No it isnae...

Scottish accent off.  ;)  ;D

Seriously though, that looks like a powerful bit of hardware for now  :o , I'd imagine it will get better over time.

But it won't help if you don't have the correct hardware to pair it with..

Is it really THAT good? I mean, $370 for some memory, if I need 4gb that's going to be a $740 with an extra $150 for a DDR3 board? $890 for memory?

Im going to do a no-no and post a link to Avs* and a test of DDR2 memory speed and timing compared to DDR3 memory speed and timing

http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az= ... 7203&page=

follow all 6 parts

You decide

thats why I wont ever be seen around DDR2 again

Cost?

Hmmmmmm.. Well, lets put it like this... if you were to purchase HIGH PERFORMANCE DDR2, not that cheap kids stuff on the market, and clock it right, you be paying MORE for 4GB:

Your posts always attract attention Nick, that's a given, and your advice is always followed by the majority.

If I were upgrading soon I'd most certainly be looking at DDR3 and would more than likely go with what you posted.. but with 2 kids and all that I'm sticking with what I have for a few months at least. I've just "completed" my upgrade this morning, replacing my HD2600XT with a 3870XT and it's made a world of difference save for the grief getting it in my case and having to move my HDDs up and down just to fit it in..  :P

Now when I get my Autumn bonus...  ;D

What???

Thats dirt cheap for what it does!

If yer buying a DDR3 system lad you best get use to costs

the difference between the men and the boys is the price of the toys

but in this case, you dump money into a top of the line motherboard and put cheap/slow memory in it, you may as well stay with DDR2 till next year

But for 1Gb sticks? :o Now that price for 2x2Gb sticks would be cheap. IMO

What I mean is, is it really that good to justify a massive price increase if you're using a nonoverclocked system?

Also, would there be much of a diferance between 2x1gb DDR2-800 4-4-4-12, and 2x2gb DDR2-1066 4-4-4-12 with my Q6600 STOCK?
