Mainboard: Asus P5K-Premium, CPU=Intel E6850 @ x8x450fsb 3.6ghz, RAM: 4gb PC8500 Team Dark, Video: NV8800GT, HDD: 2x1Tb Samsung F3 RAID-0 + 1Tb F3, PSU: Antec 550 Basiq, OS: Win7x64, Display: 24&

Its simple
USB applies a CPU load and if you are clocking you will see than load in temps
Every device draws more and more
I use a powered USB hub and take all that load off the system, even so... USB still requires CPU cycles and it seems to me if the temp is an issue you need to upgrade your HSF or reduce the clock

How does a hub save cpu cycles? I know it will supply power but I had no idea it was involved in logic .... other than routing each device's I/O....
