My quest for a final decent FSX rig

Ok I want to buy a few parts from the local online site, then take them to my local puter shop to get em all patched together. I need some advice please.

Current system specs:

Normal PC box, nuffin fancy
MSI AMD K9N Neo-F Motherboard - Socket AM2
AMD 64bit Duel Core 6000+
4 gig DDR2 Ram 667mhz
XFX Geforce 8600 GT XXX
Audigy Value Sound Card
80 gig and 250 gig Sata Drives
Windows Vista prmium 64 bit
CD writer & DVD Player Combo
450 Wat cheap no name brand PSU
19" flat screen

Now I want to buy the following case from here, the case link:

Now the 1st question is, will my mobo fit in the case? Mobo is the MSI AMD K9N Neo-F Motherboard - Socket AM2

2nd question, will the power supply fit in the case?

3rd question, will the card fit onto my mobo and in the case. I understand it is a long card.

Will this fit onto my mobo? Is it needed to fit this or is the stock coolers enough?


I was told that the 6000+ CPU fits on my board but it does not utilize the full ability. I was under the impression if something fits it works 100%?

Things like the HDD's, sound card, screen and RAM will stay in the new rig.

I will keep my O/S as is.

I know it is alot but I would appreciate help. I dont want to buy parts that dont fit. All help will be sooo greatly appreciated?

If Windows shows two CPU graphs, then it's working. If not you might need to update your motherboard BIOS.

What you're thinking about isn't hard,  why not do it yourself? Videocard replacement is dead easy- uninstall nvidia drivers, shut down remove and fit new one, with the power cables boot up install ati drivers, PSU pretty simple just a matter or removing wires, the four screws, fitting the new one re wiring it back up. Case is simple, remove PCI cards, power cables, front panel cables, data cables, motherboard screws, fit stand offs at correct location, lower  in new case screw down, front panel, data, and power cables, fit PCI cards.

There are loads of guides on the net, so you will never be stuck (use another machine to access net whilst building yours)

Cases and motherboards are built to size standards. There are currently two of interest to computer geeks like those of us on this board. The most common for our purposes is the ATX variety. The other is MATX. Any board and power supply listed as being of the ATX variety will fit into an ATX case. ATX cases have seven expansion slots. MATX have four, I think. The "M" in MATX means mini, as in minitower.

A new size class of case is coming out soon, called the BTX. I would assume it has more than seven expansion slots to allow users to run two double-wide video cards as well as a few more add-on cards that are precluded given the limited size of the ATX case. I assume motherboards can thus be larger than now, allowing even more good stuff to be incorporated into the circuitry thereon...
