Control Problems in FSX and FS9

Postby coulterww » Sat Feb 02, 2008 2:08 am

I dont know if this is a controller problem or a software problem but if anyone has had this problem or knows how to fix it, I'm all ears...

I boot up either FSX of FS9 and choose my aircraft.  I apply power, and take off, and the aircraft wants to roll to the left.  Not a gentle roll either.  I have tried opting for no torque and all, recalibrating my stick and throttle (hotas cougar) and still, it continues.  This came up all the sudden a few weeks ago.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled my software for my stick and still it continues.  ANy Ideas?

Thanks for any help I can get...

Are you running XP or Vista?

I'm running XP Home...  I wont touch Vista... at least not till a few more bugs are worked out and its made compatible with a lot more content.

Okay now this is really lame but it sometimes works. Remove the controllers from the machine, boot in safe mode and remove the drivers and clean the registry. Reconnect the controllers. Reboot and see if the system automatically recognises them. You shouldn't normally have to install drivers for things like joysticks with XP.
I had a similar problem some years back.
You might need to recalibrate the stick in XP and then within FS after reinstalling. That normally sorts it ;)

I have already uninstalled and reinstalled the controllers.  That was the first thing I did, then as soon as I reinstalled them, I calibrated them both with the Hotas Cougar software AND the windows calibrations.  I am at a complete loss with this.

I have no problems calibrating.  As big a deviation as I have, you would think it would show in the calibration process as a deviation in the center locations of the contriollers but untouched, everything centers out and the little cross is steady.

Another problem is that when I'm in chase view, the rudder deflects and flutters without input from the rudderpedals, causing the aircrafe to swerve when on the ground or in the air.  These problems occur in both FS9 and FSX.  Thats why I think it is the controllers, but the calibration set up shows them good and operating properly.

Aggravating, huh?
