Geforce or Radeon?

What factors govern the choice?

I prefer Geforce, but only cause I've had trouble with ATI's drivers. They are both very good though.  :)

I prefer ATI (Radeon) because I've had trouble with nVidia (Geforce) drivers!

Sorry that's just confussed everything but it's true! People have had problems with both.

Overall though, I have to say that ATI is stronger, IMHO. With the newer nVidia drivers, AA doesn't work properly unless you use a 3rd party graphic manager like nHancer. With ATI, no problem.

That isnt strictly true as i found out last night, although nHancer does give more settings for the end user. Having used an ATi card for a good 2 years i have to say i wasnt very impressed, most of the drivers i tried had some problem or another, but i got a new nVidia card and touch wood i havent had any problems yet except the one described above, but that was easily fixed

I've had both types an no real problems with either. I'd say it comes down to budget ;)

Tom, I'm teetering on the edge of ordering the new Geforce 8800 GTS 512, but the number of people having the anti-alias problem is offputting. I'm curious: how did you fix that? With Nhancer, or some other way? BTW, I get the impression that it's a question of resolution, and below 1600x you can in fact use AA up to 4x. Is that right?
Poised to flash my card, I'd really appreciate your advice ...

ATI seem suited to higher quality AA/AF and Half-Life 2 engine, Nvidia Doom engine. At least when I was deciding on a 1900XT or Nvidia's
