3dmark06 Score

Postby ThatOnePerson » Tue Jan 15, 2008 11:21 pm

I'm wondering if a score I recently got seems realistic for my pc. I scored 16124.

My specs
q6600 at 3.2ghz
xfx 680i mobo
2gigs of corsair dominator ram at 4-4-4-12 at 1000mhz
2x 8800gt's in SLI at 650mhz core and 1920mhz on memory.

Does 16124 seem like a realistic figure or should I be getting more?

If that is your score it is more than respectable.

With XP-32 I only hit 12282 and in Vista-64 12424.

I do 15,400 on a single card GTX on a DDR3 system

dont take 3DMark tests seriously

they are designed to sell you hardware. the only thing you should use 3DMark for is to benchmark -yourself- to see if some change you made increased your performance, otherwise forget that stupid marketing gimmik

Games and how they play have NO, NONE, NADA, ZIP to do with 3Dmark scores

people that live on that benchmark also have tools to screw with the score by messing with the internal clock. many of the wild high scores you se are LIES anyway

Its a good way to get a perspective on your own system as time prgresses but dont let scores from others make you think something is wrong.

I have seen people who post 18K+ in 3DM06 who cant get more than 25FPS out of FSX or other games. I caught 2 of the little f'kers posting in other sim forums about poor performance after bragging about their posted 3DM scores elsewhere, real joke if you ask me

Heh, I guess the cards were being bottlnecked, I upped the fsb to 1800 and had the cpu on an 8x multiplier. I'm quite happy since the temps never get above 60 under frull load. New score: 17732 8-)

keep in mind that 3DM05-06 is very processsor and bus dependent. More so that its previous versions which means the more cores and the higher the clock speed, the higher the score regardless of if that higher score is netting you anything in a real game.
