Several weeks ago I ask how hard it was to actually build your own system.

See there, nothin' to it huh.  :) Glad everything work out for you, and it's hard to beat the "I did it myself" pride you must now be feeling. Well done!

Your first build is like your first solo, something special ;)

Well done Milo, wasn't so bad was it?   :)

Before you know it you'll be an expert system builder and tweaker, able to answer any question here in the hardware forum..

Now that you've been bitten by the bug!

There is nothing like the little prayer before you push the on button and the happy dance after the monitor lights up.

Congrats on your new computer and welcome to the addictive world of computer assembling.

....I was tempted to offer to build the system for him, but I think he should have have the fun if he is putting out the money......

You could always sit in with him whilst he's doing it, offering advice when needed. That way he get's the satisfaction, you get the glory  ;D

[quote]I'm still tweaking the settings for FSX, but it is a great improvement over what my laptop could and couldn't (Acceleration) run.

It was like I pulled a Jedi mind trick or something

Made me laugh. I actually have found it easier to convince my wife that her computer is no longer getting the job done. (She works on line and requires a good reliable computer).

Then I tell her she can have the spiffy computer I have and I will use her old one until I can build myself a replacement.

The fact that an $800 off the shelf computer would do her just fine is something I try to keep from her.
