System Upgrade

Postby SubZer0 » Wed Dec 19, 2007 10:32 pm

Hey guys, hope all is well.

I'm getting a Q6700 with a DG33TL in a couple of days, maybe tomorrow. I'll be changing my motherboard and my CPU obviously, and will be transfering the rest of my hardware onto the new motheboard. Will I have to reinstall the operating system or is it even recommended that I do so? Will I have to do anything else in order for the upgrade to go smoothly and to get the full potential of my new hardware?

Also, I would appreciate it if someone went through my spec list in my signature and tell me if all of these components fit well together or if I should change anything in order to get good cooperation within the hardware.

Thanks a bunch in advance for any help received.

-Andy

EDIT: I currently run an Athlon 64 x2 4200+ (2.2Ghz OCed to 2.5Ghz). Going up to a Q6700.

I just read that going from a dual core to another dual core is fine and won't have to make any changes, but what about going from a dual to a quad?

Any time you swap a mother board you MUST reinstall the operating system. (unless you're swapping it with an exact replacement)
