Looks like a machine with a punch. ;) Nick should be able to answer the FSX question but I think one 8800 should run FSX fine with that processor.

I am a geek since a long long time aago. ::)

Naah... you're not a geek until you've built one  ;D

As for monitors, a recent thread may help you out.

definitely not a geek, just someone who thinks they are.

they probably put anywhere from 75-150% markup on everything in that computer. if you did some looking around, you would've found much better computer parts at cheaper prices. and you get the benefit of saying you built it yourself.

sorry, but i think Dell XPS systems are a big waste of money for the parts going into them.

Ramos that used to be true but now adays it is hardder to build a system for cheaper than what Dell might give you. He may have found cheaper but Dell is a reputable commercial system maker. Im not sure about high performance rigs but go look at Dells budget line PCs and then make up a price list of your own with the same specs. Your going to have a hard time finding the parts for the same price (and then to make a profit) for the same. Cheap chinese labor.....

Anyways grats on the new PC, im sure it will run FSX quite well. Runs well on my system and my system is not of the same standards. As for your TV thing, if you want to watch TV on your computer you will need to get a RCA to VGA converter and hook that to a converter box or something. Or you could get a TV Tuner card for your PC and watch all the channels on your PC.

Nah, I built mine for $650 bucks less than I would have gotten at Dell, plus its overclockable :P

You're not a geek, because you didn't post the speed of your RAM!!  :P ;D

19" monitor you want to use as computer screen and TV for only 200 bucks?? You want a lot for too little, but there's one option I can think off: Get a good second hand CRT (like IBM thinkvision) and a TV tuner card. You should be able to get that for under $ 200...

I have an HP 22" monitor. Got it on sale. It's got TV Capability, but, the regular price is like...well, see for yourself. I love it. I have a TV compatible computer but nothings ever on TV so I just watch DVDs instead. The only con on it is the the "Auto Adjust in progress" During shut on and opening non-vista compatible games takes a few seconds. Not a big deal though. But, if your not running Vista, do. not. get. it. My mom runs XP on her 19". How do you think XP would look on a 22"? ;D

Dell XPS 420   Q6600 / 8800GT512 / 3GB 667 / 320gbHDD / 2 DVD's    $1479

Newegg build including case/psu and Vista                                           $1025

Dell comes with a monitor, so really, I could only beat them by about $200...

But I will GUARANTEE you the parts are better, easier to O/C..  so it's still a several hundred dollar better deal to build...

lol i appear to have used the geek term a little flipantly , i appologise if i have offended anyone  :P ;D

I totally agree with you guys about it being cheaper to build a machine myself, but i don't really have the time/really cannot by bothered with all the hastle! I just want something tried and tested that will arrive at my door so i can just crack in FSX and get playing! So as for pre-built gaming systems i reckon Dell are the best way to go, taking into account price that is...!

Got an e-mail from Dell today though, saying they have cancelled my order because they don't accept Visa cards anymore, even though it all seemed to go through fine during the actual order, which i have gotta say has annoyed me a bit  :-/ But oh well, will try ordering again in a minute!

As for the monitor, im gonna order one of these http://www.dabs.com/ProductView.aspx?Qu ... MAodkmOnlQ all the reviews seem very good as do the specs for the price. Also, am i being stupid or would you not be able to use this as a TV??

Thanks for all the posts guys!
