What option to choose?

2x 7900 GT PCX - 2 x 117,- = 234,-

Prices are in pounds. I can't make up my mind on this one...  :-/

Well can your motherboard and processor cope with two graphics cards? Also what apart from FS will you be doing with your rig?

If you can actually find them in stock the two 8800GTs will outperform a single 8800GTX, on the other hand a single 8800GTX leaves room for the future.

If it were my money, and I could find them, I would end up with the two 8800GT.

Ok, thanks. Mark, this is not for me, but I'm helping a team mate pgradin his system. Won't be much left of his original though...  :)

What PSU would be best for two 8800GT GPU's? I was thinking about the OZC 720W EvoStream SLi ready PSU... would that be sufficient? Other components: 4 x 1 GB RAM and a 500GB Spinpoint HDD, Q6600 or E6850 CPU.

Meh a single 8800GTX will outperform the 2 GT's as long as your not trying to run on ultra high rez. Over 1240x 1024 or whatever.

2 of these bad boys in crossfire will out perform the highest spec 8800 ultra and a lot cheaper.

It's called SLi by Nvidia and you can only put 4 ATI cards together in crossfire configuration. 2 is the maximum for now if you have an Nvidia card.

I must say I haven't even looked into the ATI cards yet...

Hmm PSU choice? I'd go for 1000 watt myself. You'll have to consider the system as a whole and the load it'll be pulling. Drives, fans etc. Best thing to do is quickly check manufacturer websites and get the griff and scribble it down on some paper and add it up. Always better to have spare juice available ready for the 'next' upgrade
