Which gaming laptop for Christmas?

Postby gilly_is_alive » Mon Nov 19, 2007 3:15 pm

Keeping in mind the only thing I will be using it for is FSX:

I am really likeing the look of these two toshiba laptops  which are right at the top end of my budget:

basically they are exactly the same laptop and I have read some great reviews of the first one but the 2nd one has just come out with 2 major differences but exactly the same price.

Instead of an Intel

With that budget you could get a killer desktop.... Why a laptop?

Current DESKTOP hardware struggles with FSX.. any laptop out nowadays will just about cut the mustard in FS9. If you want to run FSX on a laptop, wait until FSXI comes out and buy new then.

EDIT: To answer your question about graphics memory, turbo cache means it will "steal" memory from your system RAM hindering performance.
Dedicated graphics memory is what to look for as it uses it for graphics only.

Thats ok, I know it wont be able to run FSX on full but it will be able to handle it a lot better than what I have now.

My laptop runs FS9 maxed out at an average FPS of 30 over cities...Over open territory, it just goes higher and higher ;)

Well, the demo ran decently...16FPS over TNCM and around 40FPS over the water...I'm guessing the full version will run like crap... ::) ;)
