Vista 32bit or 64bit?

Postby Sean Grenyer » Tue Nov 06, 2007 6:14 am

Hi

I'm wanting to upgrade my XP O/S to Vista so I can use DX10, but am not sure whether to go for 32bit or 64bit. The computer is only used for FSX.

What are people's thoughts on that?

Thanks.

64 bits! I've had no compatibility or drivers problems with it, it let's you use more than 4GB and runs applications faster (even 32bit applications run faster but, of course, not much).
Intel Q6600 @ 3.2Ghz cooled w/ Zalman 9700
4GB G. Skill DDRII @ 800Mhz
512Mb AMD/ATI HD2900XT
Creative Audigy 2 ZX
Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit
FSX Deluxe version + Acceleration

If you've been using 32-bit, then your system hasn't been using 4Gb of RAM.

So yeah, 64-bit is the way to go.  Besides, if you used 32-bit, then you just waster money on 4GB of RAM.

FS Water Configurator+ has new modifications in the works, plus DirectX 10, Service Pack
1, and Radeon HD 3+ Series support.
