Postby John Downing » Wed Oct 31, 2007 3:29 pm

Ok,   about a year ago I decided putting money away for a new computer I had 7000 dollars saved up.

I bought the new computer with a

QX6800  (WHOO HOOO unlocked multiplier!) :)
8 GB DDR2 RAM  (May be overkill but not in 3 years)
ASUS STRIKER EXTREME, can support my RAM
XFX 8800 GTX ULTRA EXTREME 2 of them for my 4 monitors
20x DVDRW
Saitek Pro Flight Throttle Quadrant - Pro Pilot Series

Saitek Pro Flight Yoke - Pro Pilot Series

Saitek Pro Flight Rudder Pedals - Realistic Rudder Control System

CoolIT Freezone Elite SILENT Thermoelectric Maintenance-Free CPU Cooler (775/478/754/939/940/AM2) :)  :D

Im planning on overclocking to about 3.7 GHZ  may go higher to acheive my fps.

Im hoping to run on 2-3 montiors at about 20ish FPS to 30FPS on HIGH ULTRA HIGH
Well Ill post some screenies when Its up and running on WINDOWS VISTA 64 ULTIMATE!!!

My case is Extreme not the original, It has 4 fans and 2 vent holes.

All For 7000 Dollars plus 3 monitors some taxes I din;t show

Sounds great - I have four monitors which I drive with a single 8800GTX card and an Intel 6700 dual core but not clocked.

I am holding off to the next generation of CPU cards come out, but my tech has said although SLI may not be supported by my game it could lift performance driving so many screens.

Apart from the warranty threats, I haven't clocked because of the cooling issue - your solution sounds great.

I really look forward to your performance results.

Make sure to use a 64 bit operating system so that you can use all 8GB of your RAM. Also make sure you have enough power to run that beast with your proposed overclocks. I would say that a good sturdy 850W would be fine. To find specifically what you need check out Antec's PSU calculator http://www.extreme.outervision.com/PSUEngine Its a nice rough estimate as to what you should be looking at. Personally I round to the nearest multiple of 50 when Using it, so a 771W score would mean that I'm buying a 800W or better PSU.

But looks like a good system overall, I can tell you that with good RAM and cooling you will be able to crank that board an processor. I had mine running 4Ghz for a while, but have since backed off because I really don't feel like replacing another motherboard in less than a year.
