Graphics for fsx???? question???

Postby R44 PILOT » Tue Oct 23, 2007 12:12 pm

Hi guys got a question for you computer wizzards.

I have FSX on my comp with a 128 something or other graphics card, and it runs okish, however in the search for something better to run it on i've ordered a new tower.
I think i've ordered the correct stuff for gaming if I list what i've ordered could you give your opinions on how it will run on it and what i may have missed and still need to order.

Windows Vista Premium
2 sli 8500gt Geforce cards working together
4 GB of RAM
And quad core processor
600w power supply
Dont understand about drives and all that, any ideas from that please?

Many mant thanks
Lou :)

In my opinion you have more than enough to run FSX, for example I just have a p4 3.6 and 1gb ddr2 ram ,with an agp nvidia card 256,and winXp..

besides of having in rarely occasions some crashes,Due to a broken ddr2, I feel very confortable using FSX

you can see mine spects Below in this post

This will prob getted bumped over to hardware, where the experts will see it...

I'd imagine the first thing they'll advise is to forget about SLI and go with a single 8800GTX

Thanks for the info, sorry about putting it in the wrong area I havent been on for about a year,

Why forget about the SLI? Whats the problem with this?
Thought about the 8800GTX, Thought about running two of them in SLI but costly, will have to see how the new system runs it really. If not i'll sell the 2 8500's and purchace 1 8800gtx then perhaps look at a second if thats not enough.
I read the thread that was posted, obviously written by some computer wizzard who knows what he's on about, It seems theres just no limit as to what you can spend!
And like he says things move on so fast, thats why I went for the quad core, no doubt they'll faze out the duo core2 in the next year or so and I just cant be bothered or afford to keep up with changing the system every 12-24months.
I've seen some videos on youtube of FSX with high end machines, I really cant imagine what this guys system looks like running FSX!! I think it just comes down to what you want your FSX to run like and how deep your pockets are.
Like I say I'll be stopping at 2 8800GTX's if these ones are not upto scratch, Also I've ordered the FSX Accelerator so that might be a big improvement especially running 10x, and JustFlight who I've been helping beta testing the new Robinson R44 have said FSX runs alot better on Vista, dont know why, dont understand computers enough for that but really appreciate the help guys.

Again many many thanks
It comes in a couple of days so will let you know the results.

Lou,

Unless you're running more than 2 monitors your 2nd Video card will be part of your heating system (when running FSX).
