Same as when it worked fine: G.Skill F2 6400. I know it's not "supposed to" work with the P5B, but it does. When the motherboard is not bad, that is... ;)

:D  :D  :D !!!

I wasn't quite ready to tear the rig apart, but happened to be looking in there... and it seemed that I'd missed something in my first inspection: the secondary 12V cable ("ATX 12V") to the mobo was just slightly loose. It's possible I had never quite clicked it in place to begin with... ::)

But of course it wouldn't just boot for me after that... had to pull a stick of RAM out. Shut down, returned the stick to its slot, and presto!

I take back everything I said about ASUS... :-[

Thanks a lot for your help, everyone... now if you'll excuse me, I have to do some flying! ;D

Also, check around and verify things like power plugs to the motherboard, CPU HSF sitting strait and solid on the processor, etc.

thought there ma be a low current issue

short of an bad MB or PSU that would be the culprit

also, the reason for the memory re-seat is because of the motherboard (i) current issue.
