FS2004 performance on This New Rig

Hey guys,having already purchased a Dell XPS M1710 Laptop off Dell 4 weeks ago,Yes! 4 weeks ago,today was the day they were supposed to deliver it,but though I checked my emails and there was an email from Dell saying I'd have to wait until past Christmas day for it,so I was having none of that,so I decided to cancel my order with them because I'm not waiting that long since I ordered it 5 weeks ago,anyway I know want a Desktop PC that can basically max FS2004 out with smooth performance and graphics,I'm not buying FSX,only FS2004,I'm looking at the system below

FS9 will run like a dream on that setup... however if you've got the option to customise it ditch the 2 8500s and stick a single 8800GTS in there, or if funds allow an 8800GTX... FSX will run well on it as well then.
Make sure Vista is the 64bit version as well or that 4Gb of RAM will be wasted...and check the specs of the PSU as well  ;)

Unless you're going to be running 4 monitors don't bother with 2 graphics cards...and definitely don't get 8500s.  I would also advise not buying from MESH...On paper they are excellent value for money,they use good quality components but their build quality is erratic at best.  I used them twice in the past..when the driver delivered it he remarked "See you in a couple of days, when I come to pick it up"...he wasn't wrong!  There was bubble-wrap wedged between the Graphics card and motherboard, the case was scratched and they'd installed a different processor.. I'd ordered an X6800 and they installed a Q6700.  They did sort it out quite quickly and were immensely apologetic.  So I gave them the benefit of the doubt and ordered a second system..this came with the wrong Motherboard and Memory!!  Needless to say I haven't used them since. However, it did get sorted and they were actually as cheap as building yourself especially as you do get lots of bundled software..but for me it would have been less hassle to self-build.
You'll find it difficult to get the same system at an equal or lower price...but you may pay for it in hassle, then again you may be lucky and they get it right first time.  Either way I would not get that Dual 8500 system!
If you go for MESH then I think this is closer to your needs as you're sticking with FS2004:

I have a single duo core, 4G's of memory and a single 320G HD and maxed the hell out FS9! Now I'm just running FSX, and it does pretty good at a couple of knotches below full blast.

Like CharlottesDad said, if you have the funds, the 8800's are the sh!t.

And as F said, that's gonna drain the hell out your wallet. I priced a simular set up from newegg (???) errr somewhere, and it was over $5,000 USD, BUT, ... it was free shipping
