What card is best for $150 and FSX?

Postby skunker » Tue Sep 25, 2007 6:20 pm

Hey guys,
Anyone know what video card I can get that will run FSX "good" if I have the following specs:

3.0ghz Hyper Thread P4
2gb ram
400gb hard drive
No PCI express slots....sniff...

I dont' want to spend more than $150 on the video card, if possible.

Can someone give me a suggestion on what card will work best for my budget?> Thanks!

I'm really sorry to say this but you can't play FSX well with a $150 graphics card. If you can only afford a $150 graphics card, FS9 will look much better than FSX will so I'd stick to it ;)

I disagree when it comes to the ATI cards. It just depends on whether you're in Vista or XP. In XP Nvidia cards are typically better because of the drivers but in Vista ATI's drivers are much more stable than Nvidia's. The only problem with ATI cards is the poor performance of the top models when compared to Nvidia's top models... if you go down to the medium range products, ATI and Nvidia are more or less balanced.

My x1950pro plays all the latest game with no worries what so ever the 7800 is not even on par with the x1950.The X1800 XL and the 7800GT are simular models if you want old school graphics.

I would agree I havent had any trouble at all with anything with my x1950pro. Maybe diffrent with other systems but I love it. My old 9600xt AGP would not touch Halo but know I can max it out no problem. lol

I had a Radeon 1900 GT. I'll say it this way, it was great for internet browsing. I found a sale on a an NVidia 8500 GT for $88 at Best Buy and the diffenence in both FS9 & FSX is night and day. Semper Fi, Dave

the 1950 series are good all round from what ive read. only problem is with the source engine where the drivers dont recognise DirectX and you cant run the game. thats the only problem i know off, not sure if its been fixed or not, other than that excellent cards.
