Dual Monitors

Postby Virtual_Pilot » Mon Sep 24, 2007 3:52 pm

Hey everyone,

Sorry I havent been active for the past week or two, serious internet problems.

Anyway, I want to get dual monitors. (Two monitors for the mentally challenged :P)

Before I get into any more detail, I just need this question answered. If you have one of them Video Cards with dual DVI then you just plug both of the monitors up to the computer, change the display settings and have dual monitors, I did that by using an old CRT monitor from my old computer and I tested it out and everything worked fine, except...

I started up FSX, put it in full screen, and on one monitor I would get a flash every two seconds of the game and on the other monitor it was black. Do I need to get an adapter of some sort like that Dual-Head thing by Matrox or anything, or do I need to change settings?

Thanks,

Alright, I think I understand it now.

Is there anything like FreeFD for the Airbus A320?

Alright, I'm a Gold Member now!

Anyway, is there a way to have one monitor all viewing area with no cockpit and the other monitor like a 2D cockpit from FSX?

Also, is there a way to simply expand the viewing area so I have a wider view, or would that tax the video card alot? I am gonna buy a 8600 GTS 256MB if that helps.

Virtual Pilot,

When you mention stuff like FreeFD, you are treading dangerously close to the Dark Side........ beware.

Alright, I am not interested in that FreeFD stuff, I just want to know how to make it so that when you have two monitors running then you can put it in full screen and it will cover both monitors. It must be possible, I have seen pictures, like this one

Do you need DualHead2Go to get something like that except just dual monitors or what?

I use a program called Ultramon. It has an icon on the top right of the screen that will spread everything across all of your monitors.

It is also very usefull in day to day use when you want to move something from one screen to the other. One click and it is moved.

Alright, I am using the 30-Day free trial of UltraMon. How do you get FSX in full-screen mode and make it take up each screen?

In the upper right hand corner of your main screen there should be 5 icons. The 3 that were always there and the 2 Ultramon icons. Click on the second icon from the left and everything should spread out over both monitors.

I am not on my computer so can't do a screen shot. If you are still having problems tomorrow I will send a screen shot. I don't have FSX loaded right now but will take it to work with me and install it there.

Well... I loaded FSX and tried to get it to show on both monitors. It stretched about 1/2 inch on to the second monitor but would not go full width. Looks like I might have given you some bad information.

Yeah, it seems it will only let FSX take up one monitor
