Peer to peer

Postby terbert » Tue Sep 25, 2007 2:23 am

Hi all,
Forgive my ignorance, and hope this is the forum for this topic.
Can some-one tell me whether Multiplayer in FS9 uses peer to peer, or is it only added software that is under this banner. The reason for asking is I had a very good internet deal, until recently when fair usage policy was introduced (Tiscali) I use a peice of software call FSInn, connecting to the FSFDT server. This evidently is using P2P. In a nutshell, it was impossible to get on the server until silly times, like after midnight. I am now with BT, have no trouble connecting anytime. However, we have now switched to using a server using the Multiplayer connect in the game (via FS Host). Hence the reason for asking the question.....
I am not quibbing Tiscali's rules etc, just want to know the answer to the technical bit and, basically, what is P2P
I have also just noticed a fair use policy in BT's terms and conditions, so hold my breath on that one.

Many thanks

...good question that for, Broadband users who have a Server download limit on their Monthly Internet usage...;)...!

The same thing applies to using on-line 'streaming' downloads, eg; Music and Videos..!

( I often leave my computer connected, and receiving streaming music from on-line Radio Stations)....
....does this add to my Monthly usage allowance?... ::)...!

My Freeserve Monthly Broadband download allowance is 6 GB Max.

So, there you go...On-line Streaming Video Gaming, Streaming Videos, and Streaming Music.. ::)...?

...any ideas?...;)...!

F....G-BPLF... 8-)...!

Everything counts towards the max. But sometimes there are 2 types of traffic limits: national traffic and international traffic. For instance, my monthly limit is 30GB international and unlimited National. Just check with your ISP or server how everything works for you.
