PS2 creenshot capture cards?? Please help!

Postby spitfire boy » Fri Sep 14, 2007 2:46 pm

Is it possible to take screenshots on a PS2 - or any non-PC console for that matter - like you would in a PC? Furthermore, is it possible to subsequently transfer those screenshots to a PC? Or am I going to have to resort to pointing a camera at my TV screen? ;D ;D

Pointing a camera at the screen is probably the cheapest option, as well as the one with the least amount of hassle ;D

They're special cards you can purchase for your computer that will allow you to capture pictures from whatever the TV is showing, as well as take videos.

Where to get them, what they're called, and what would be a good choice, though, is something I do not know.

In some games that allow you to take images, you can save the images to a USB pen (works with PS2 and Gran Turismo 4, anyway :D)

Not sure about any other games / consoles though!

Go to the nearest gun store... fill out the forms... if everything is OK they will sell you a gun... Get some ammo to go with it... load the gun and point at your TV... pull the trigger... tadaa! Screenshot!!  ;) ;D

Capture Cards, which are designed for just that purpose, are quite common and can be picked up at any local Best Buy or Circuit City.

Obviously, the more expensive, the better the quality, save the rip-offs.

I would do except for the fact that;

1. I have got much much further in the PS2 version and it'd take a while to get to that stage again on the PC...
2. The PS2 is far more practical for playing racing games...

Are 'best buy' and 'circuit city' shops that have bases in the UK? If not, where might I get a 'capture card' in the UK - and can anyone recommend any specific brand?

Thanks for the help guys! :D

It's been here a while so I'll move it to hardware and see if they can help you, okay?
