processor speed a little confused

Postby coreservers » Sat Sep 08, 2007 2:51 am

Hi.
My current system is as follows
P4 D945 3.4ghz 4mb cache Dual core LGA775

2ghz PC3200 400mhz ram

512mb geforce 7600gs agp.

I'm looking to upgrade the processor but am unsure what to go for, is a 1.86ghz core 2 duo better than my current one, or what. I'm a bit confused.
It is to run fsx even better than it does now.
Any sensible advice would be appreciated

It's marginally better....but in my opinion not worth the expense for the very small performance boost you might gain.  You are better waiting and saving for a complete Motherboard/CPU/RAM update when you can move to a 1066Mhz FSB and DDR2 RAM combination.
