Postby Keep It Simple » Wed Aug 29, 2007 6:00 pm

What is the correct syntax fot a quad core?

[JOBSCHEDULER]

I know 15 is the n for quad core but, what is the binary nmber for?

Thats not how it works. You are bottlenecked by the vid card cause the quad bandwith increased the data ability and the card can't match it. FSX uses the first 2 cores available to it for the primary program stuff and the rest of the cores for loading the program, loading and calculating the terrain and a few other items but the first 2 do the majority of the work. Past the first 2 cores goes to all the terrain stuff for the most part and unless you have a video card that can keep up with the cpu and memory bus you wont see a frame improvement but you should see better running.

add in a video card and drivers that takes full advantage of the bus and your quad comes to life

turning off core 0 to FSX works for some and not for others from what I have read. Its one of those try it and see deals

Quite a few of the antivirus programs out there, the free ones especially, will make FSX problems. You should either shut them down or use the settings in the AV to exclude FSX.exe and the entire FSX directory from any file use virus scans. I use NOD32 and set it to exclude fsx but I never saw any problems using that AV with or without it excluded. There is lots of stuff on the net posted about AVG and AVAST whacking FSX to death

Yeah, that's what I ment. Perhaps you misunderstood me?

I really didn't expect to see a dramatic FPS improvement switching to a quad at this point.
I did so mainiy because I had a buyer for my Core duo and figured a quad would at least make FSX and XP run even smoother than it already did.
