Sorry to say but a 250watt PSU isn't going to be powerful enough to run that card ........ the extra cables that you have are for powering the card direct from your PSU, it wont run just off the power from your Motherboard.

Check out any of Nicks postings about PSUs ........ At least 700watts would probably be advisable. I'm having problems with an X1900 and a 600watt PSU. So probably another

The problem with the latest graphics cards is that they require more and more power the higher the spec. Going anything higher than your current X1650 will require that extra uumph.
I know from Nick's posts it isn't just about the actual power of the PSU but as much about how that power is distributed, most of his recommendations start at 700watts.

I am not an expert on this subject but following Nick's advice I purchased these items:

8800 gts

PSU

Nick used to advice 700w+, but he was usually talking about huge machines, with monster drives, mother boards, video cards, fans, and all the bells and whistles. I would say (remember I'm not an expert) if able go for a respectable brand 600W psu.

Out it quick, get your money back and start again once you've done some research on what you want against what you have.

Harsh advice I know, I've been where you are and it's not a nice place.
