The more those fan ports can breathe the cooler the system will be. I dont think taking a CD slot out is helping much but it may. Make sure the front tower air intake area around the bottom is not full of dust. Sometimes you can not see that area very well and its a perf metal grill, it depends on the tower.

The door may have holes or vents in it as well. Usually I select a tower that has either a fan on the door at the same elevation as the CPU, or has some type of intake that will assist in keeping the CPU or VC cool. Sometimes thats not an option depending on the size of the CPU cooler.

In your case, bending those slats flat and allowing as much air get past them as possible would be a good idea. If you want to cut them out all the way, thats fine. Since the mount holes for the fans are well past the cut area removing the slats wont pose a problem but the fan blades will be exposed so watch the fingers. You can get universal fan grills as I posted in that other thread. You would need 80mm for that tower.

EDIT:
Another thing too, you do want to make sure the entire venturi of the fan is open, meaning the inside smooth formed and shaped edge does not have a lip of case blocking it. The aerodynamics of getting the air out very much depends on the smooth formed venturi lip having no obstructions. Even a 1/16 overlap in that area will reduce airflow because it causes the air to swirl at the blade instead of forcing a solid 100% flow.

Take a good "look" at how the air flows in your case.  Do the fans blow in or out?  If they blow out, where is the air supposed to come "in"?  In my case the PS fan and CPU fan blow "out".  There is an air "in" near my GPU, and the vid card feeds off this inlet air and exhausts in to the case.  If I were to remove a drive then that would reduce the flow near my GPU and could possibly raise temps there.  Airflow management does take a little thought, but worst thing that happens is you try something, it doesn't work, so you put it back (or tape up a hole you made, or whatever).

With your vents, where does the air get directed by those vents?  If you snip them off, where will your air go?  Some vents may be angled the way they're angled intentionally.  If one fan blows in and one blows out for example then the vents would be angled to prevent the "in" fan from ingesting exhaust air.

I'm not an overclocker so I've never run in to temp problems.  When you run stock parts in stock configs it's pretty easy to keep cool.  But I do vacuum and clean things out from time to time to keep the system in good working order.

I used to have the same issue ,I post these shots days ago, I wan's aware that the speedfan software was not properly calibrated, My CPU temps really drops down after I set two big fans inside my case

120Vac 20 watts

As I mentioned earlier in the thread...I've already solved the problem.

But as this information might be helpful to others, no probs. Keep it coming.

P.S. My fan/case system is not far different to the one pictured above.  :)

( it seems the entire cause of my problems was me having the side off my case...thinking that would cool it down,,,it did the opposite and stopped air being directed onto the areas that needed the cooling most.)
