Newegg won't sell to me

Postby Dan Morera » Wed Aug 15, 2007 12:06 pm

OK, so I live outside of the US my credit card is international, my shipping and billing address is in the US, turns out Newegg does not accept international credit cards  >:( So I'm sitting here waiting for my order and it turns out I can not buy from them.

Do you guys know of any other online stores where I can buy my stuff? Preferably one where you have bought you self before, that way I can make sure they are honest.

Thanks
Dan  >:(

PS. You have no idea how mad I am about this. >:(

I'm sorry Dan, I did not know you were not in the US. Had I known I would have told you newegg only ships and sells to US customers.

If you give me a hint where you live I will see what retailer would be best

I'm actually located in Costa Rica, shipping out side of the US is not necessary, since I got a courier that provides me an address in the US and then they ship to me, I just need one that ill accept my CC.

Thanks Nick

Ok, I get it. hmmmm   The CC part I am not sure of. Let me check around but its probably going to require they either post they accept international orders or you contacting them to see if they will. I will post a few online retailer links to reputible firms I have ordered from.

One other thing.. I dont care who you order from, if the SHIP TO address is different from the BILL TO (address for the credit card holder) is different, you are going to probably have a bit more explaining to do, even if a retailer ships and accepts international orders. Especially if you pay the bill in Costa Rica and its being shipped to the USA.

They very rarely will let a charge go by if the credit card is billed to a different address than the ship-to.

Usually it requires proof of ID faxed to them.

Hmmmm

Doesnt newegg accept PayPal? According to their policies they do http://www.newegg.com/CustomerService/P ... eement.asp

If so, you can make payment from your CC to paypal for the purchase. That may be an option for all the online retailers as many of them do accept Paypal. You will have to create a PP account which is no big deal. PP may charge for the transaction, what, I dont know.

As for ship-to and paypal, I dont know how that may work

Perhaps before giving up with newegg you should get on chat with a rep and ask about paypal and how to make it all work. They will tell you exactly what to do.

Both my billing and shipping address are the same in the US, that shouldn't be a problem. Going to check into paypal, I have not tried it before since I don't know how safe it is. Thanks man. Let me know if you run into any other online retailers. and sorry for being such a pain.

OK so the only problem is the CC. Strange, as long as its a major CC and the billing and ship-to are the same it should not be a hassle on that part... it must be newegg was getting alot of stolen cc's on international cards.

Paypay is fine, just be careful of email scams saying they are from PP and to do something with your account. Dont even click a link in email to make a change to PP, always go there directly in the browser with the main address and you wont have any problems. I used them for ebay from time to time and never had any issues.

Thanks Nick, going to create a paypal account and try like that. If that doesn't work, I'll try one of the others, or stay primitive, spending money shouldn't be this hard. HURRY BEFORE WIFE FINDS OUT WHAT I'M UP TO! :o

Contact Newegg first, tell them the situation and ask the right proceedure. You can use the chat system on newegg for real time so its faster

Ask them exactly what to do and if it will work for them, that way you are not wasting your time and can get the process right the first time without any more delays

If you have not canceled the order they may be able to transfer it to a paypal order

The guy at Newegg told me that it probably won't work with paypal but to give it a try if I wanted to. Doesn't look good with Newegg

thats strange

paypal accepts the risks I thought. I know paypal may want some info from you about your ID but newegg should not have a problem if the transaction is cleared by paypal

sorry you have to go though the hoops Dan

I had a similar problem with Overclockers UK for a card last year. My indepth account information, other than the card is good and the charge can go through, is not available to anyone unless I clear it with the CC company in writing and since I use that level of security and will not open transmit fax ID information, OC UK would not allow the transaction. Which I understand. I had to ask a favor of a european friend to make that transaction.
