NO ONE ELSE READING THIS MESSAGE DO THIS PROCESS. IT IS FOR HIS SYSTEM, NOT YOURS

Note the following

The lines in RED can go BUT if you use multimonitor leave NVWIZ.exe alone

Dont worry about the rest. Office does not need to boot with Windows. it will start when you start one of the features. Real Player is calling home all the time, kill that... you can use the Spybots screen to click on the line ONCE to highlight it in BLUE, then click DELETE

NOTE: THERE IS NO RETURN SO MAKE SURE YOU CLICK THE RIGHT LINE

Also, do you use some type of trading program? TradeManager?

I do not want you to delete anything you are not sure you need.

The entry MQUOO is strange. I can find no data on it or its use. Do not delete it but I am not sure what it is

IF you do not use advanced language services for oriential language support or support for speech recognition and tablets, ctfmon.exe can be shut down but it requires this process to do it:

1. Open Control Panel.

2. If you use the old Control Panel interface, double-click Text Services. If you use the NEW WindowsXP control panel, click:

Date, Time, Language, and Regional Options

And then click:

Regional and Language Options

On the Languages tab, click: Details

3. Click the ADVANCED tab. Place a check in

Thanks for that Nick, I've disabled those that you highlighted, and have un-installed ctfmon.exe

As for trade manager, no idea what it is, although this used to be the "home office pc" for a trading company, perhaps that explains it.
I've looked into and and don't need it, so I'll remove it.

I looked for MQUO0, and it is supposed to be located in C:/Windows, but it's not there, even with hidden folder view on. Perhaps it is a virus or something? Certainly sounds like one.

Once again, thanks for your help ;)

Edit: Just realised, I no longer use AI-Booster to overclock, all done manually through BIOS now, perhaps that should go?

If I use an always-on Ethernet connection, would I still need all that AOL stuff?

I cant be sure of that... I would like to see all that AOL crap go but I dont want you to loose your AOL connection. I never used them so I simply do not know

Now that you have completed that project, if you have not seen it, you can also do this list:

http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/yabb2 ... ;start=0#5

Note: Registry Mechanic is not critical but I use it for 32bit Windows. Your choice

O&O Defrag must be either vesrion 8 or 8.5. Do not use version 10 (currently being sold) See if you can find 8.5 which works perfect with my list.

Before you go into all of that, you still have a FS9 problem. At this point I am not sure if you are dealing with a corrupt install or not but it would appear that way.

Please make sure you have the latest DX9 installed: http://download.microsoft.com/download/ ... bsetup.exe

download, and run. It will update directX automatically from the web, then reboot

Thats all I can come with for you on your FS9 issue.

Make sure your drivers are set up as I have posted too.

I'll follow that guide, thanks for the link.

As for the FS9 problem, I'll try a clean install [again] tomorrow, but this time after cleaning the disk ;)

I'm downloading the latest DX9 drivers right now.

Now off to get some sleep, I need it 8-)

Here is the proper way to deal with FS9

Uninstall FS9. When finished, browse to the following locations and MAKE SURE these folders are deleted:

NOTE: Hidden Files and Folders must be disabled to see all of this:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9 <---- delete this folder

C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR USER NAME\Application Data\Microsoft\FS9 <---- Delete this folder

Verify there is no FS9 folder in:
C:\Documents and Settings\ALL USERS\Application Data\Microsoft\FS9 <---- Delete this folder

My Documents, delete any Flight Simulator 9 folder in there

Once complete, reboot

Install FS9. When finished, please reboot to clear the buffers before starting the program

Start FS9. Allow it to complete the scenery indexes and get you to the main menu. Once finished, close FS9

Open FS9 again and see if it runs any more scenery indexes. Close it when it gets to the main menu.

Many older CD
