I will look at the PSU and post back

If you are not seeing this corruption in other games and 3Dmark runs fine then I have go with a corruption of some type in the FS9 install or possibly elements of Dx9 that FS9 uses, but given 3Dmark runs without issue, I would have to place a Dx9 issue on the low chart.

Is this a clean FS9 install with no add-ons?

Look at the disk and make sure its not scratched up

do you recall if the video card takes 1 or 2 power inputs?

If its only one, you may be borderline on that 12v rail

Yeah, it's a clean FS9 install, no add-ons

The disk is... well....... not in great condition, after a few years of being thrown around ;)

The card takes one 4-pin Molex to single 6-pin PCI Express power adapter (that's straight form the manual).

Thanks,
Celtman

Do they supply you with a pigtail power plug, with one PCIe at one end for the card and 2 power inputs on the other side or does it not come with any extra power cable?

from BFG
One 6-pin PCI Express supplementary power connector -or- Two 4-pin Molex power connectors

a combined 12V current rating of 28A or more

The problem here is the PSU is a OEM make. They do post specs at http://www.hecgroupusa.com but they don

It is a pigtail power plug, one end for card, two for power input.

Seems impossible to tell which outputs are 12v1 and 12v2. Wires are colored differently each, but no indication of which are 12v1 and 12v2.

Other than that I am now 100% confused :-?

So you currently have the card running on the pigtail, with 2 molex inputs to a single PCIe connection on the card, is that correct?

If so, does the PSU have a 6 pin PCIe plug or no?

If it does have a single PCIe plug, switch to that for the video card and see if you get a different result

but I am really starting to lean more toward some type of texture/install corruption for FS9 itself. Being everything else appears to work fine in 3D, I really have to say that would appear to be where the problem is.

I only wanted to confirm good power is getting to the card. If you already have it on the 2 molex pig tail, it is probably fine but if you have a PCIe plug coming from the PSU, you can test it.. (turn the computer OFF before switching and unplug from the wall) if no difference put it back the way it was.

If the FS9 CD is in bad shape you may have a corrupt FS9 install. Sometimes taking a bit of plastic polish or very mild compound to the CD and shining it up with a very soft cloth can help quite a bit but be careful doing that too.

Some other strange things are happening now..... I'm getting the following error when loading the FSRepaint Demo.

Image

Also, whenever windows is booted up and I log on, I get a wincm.exe(I think) error, saying it cannot be found. Perhaps this problem needs a new XP install?

Thanks,
Celtman

I missed this post. It was at the end of the last page and I did not see it till now.

Thats very interesting. I can see the error from the repaint possibly being a dev issue and they screwed up but boot errors are never good.

the next time you see errors, write them down very carefully and post them.

The PSU does not seem to have a 6 pin PCIE plug, so I guess it's OK the way it is.

I've got some CD cleaning stuff lying around, I will try that and re-install.

Im going to go and boot up my other PC now, I'll post a shot of the boot error I get, see if it has anything to do with it. 8-)

Thanks for all your help Nick ;)

Well that tells me the PSU is not designed for PCIe use and older.

What you have will work but it would really be nice to find out which plugs are 12v1 and which plugs are 12v2

It is possible only the main plug is 12v1 and the rest are 12v2... I really dont know. Without good technical docs from the manufacture I have no clue.

So for now, lets assume you are getting the needed power since other 3D apps are working and go from there.

Boot errors do not mean they are related to the problem but they should not be ignored.

Intersting

you may be infected

http://fileinfo.prevx.com/QQ98611666784 ... M.EXE.html

do not download the software offered, just read the info about the program throwing the error

also

libeay32.dll contains encryption functions which allow for coded communications over networks. This file is opensource and is used in many opensource programs to help with SSL communication

Could have been installed to transmit data via the trojan

Done the immunization and scan.

Found 109 problems, all fixed, no re-boot.

Here is the startup list:

good about not needing a reboot

Do you use AOL?

Also, I see the source of the error  ZAPu and download accelerator of some type and probably garbage too

Yes I do use AOL.

I have no idea what Zapu is, never used a download accelerator.

Should I remove it?

Thanks.....
