Nick, thanks for all your valuable and obviously knowledgeable input, but I out-right cannot afford what you are suggesting. The 640MB versions of these cards are way to expensive for me. I'm already shattering the piggy bank going with the 320MB GTS.

Also as I said before, this system will not be upgraded once it is built, (unless the person who buys it from me when I go to university in a years time wishes to do so) so using the Gigabyte board for future upgrades doesnt benefit me much.

I'll have to stick with the Vanilla P5K as well. I won't be doin any heavy overclocking, if any, and its cheaper.

I will change to the Crucial chips though, since you say they're better (and even cheaper :))... and I'm already going with the Q6600. ;)

I'll do some research on those ATI cards. If they're released by the 23rd when I'll most likely be ordering, I'll switch to those If they suit me well.

Thanks for all the help again all!

My 2nd thoughts on a cheaper vid card and case are growing............... again... :-/

Right now I'm looking at peripherals. Here's the relatively cheap stuff I've come up with (I know... u get what you pay for. Like I said before, only the system core has to be fansy-pansy):

Microsoft Comfort Curve 2000 USB Ergonomics Keyboard Mouse Included - $22
Surge Protector - $7
iMicro IM658 1.3 MP USB WebCam - $15
Logitech X-230 32W 2.1 Speakers - OEM - $32
Cyber Acoustics Circumaural Speech Recognition Stereo Headset & Boom Mic - $14

Now if only I could find an LCD monitor for under $100... ::)

Just order it and be happy, don't skimp yourself to much  ;) Now if price is such an issue why are you buying a web cam? Hell you don't even need the speaks right away.

I do a lot of conferencing with my girlfriends in other countries. ;)

I'm trying to order everything I'll possibly need at Newegg, 'cause on average, it's going to cost me 2 to even 3 times as much for any given part down here. And I know I'm going to want them eventually.

Now, due to my current financial situation, I'm in cut-back prices mode. Therefore, as much as it hurts me, I'm going with the $190 XFX 7950GT (those specs are just too impressive for the price) and the $40 Cooler Master case instead. I figure that $130 bucks saved can go to this $120 OEM AG Neovo 17" LCD Monitor bringing my grand total now to roughly $1,141.

Cool.
The 512MB 7950 is only $10 cheaper than the 8800 GTS... point: better to just spend the extra $10.
Also the one I chose is clocked faster and cheaper. Thanks for the suggestion though...
