Help!! Obi ones

This is about my Dad's pc.This morning when he turn the pc on, the machine makes the reebot and the welcome screen but then it stays with desktop screen and no icons, and after a few seconds it appears

Did you try hit F8 the select without drivers(safe mode) then restore?

and BTW Join the Dark side ...

Take the drive out, Make it a slave in another comp, Virus scan it, and save what you can, Stick it back in the comp and reformat the OS and it should work, I've had that happen a few times, I never found a solution to date.
