The CCleaner is the same thing that CleanCache is. Right now I run CleanCache, AdvancedDiscCleaner,RegscrubbXP,Adaware,SpyBot,System Mech 6, Registry Mech,O+O defragg. None of these apparently get to those "hard to reach places".
I've done regedit to everything I want off the system but it will only search so far. I'll go into add remove programs and some of those things are still there. For example Call of Duty II, Far Cry, Gun, CounterStrike, all of these things still show up in add remove but in the right hand colum there is no longer a file size or a remove option. It just says used rarely. CAll of Duty II was real freaky. I went to put the disc in to install it and it gave me the option to play instead. It hasn't been on the machine for over a year! Also some times I'll go to load a program, any program, and when it gives me the option to browse to see where I want to install the program I see old folders from games or software I know I got rid of and yet there they are!
Registry Mechanic is for sure a powerful program. I didn't have it 30 seconds last night and it found over 7000 problems! It fixed them all. Then I went to add remove again and though I'm sure it fixed alot of things, the above mentioned are still sitting there.
I know the simple solution is to use my XP disc that came with my Dell and do a complete dump of everything, reformat, and start from scratch. However, I have to much on there I would need to back up first. All my gen keys for my payware, the payware programs, etc. All of which i'm doing now anyway. Still, is there a program out there that can get rid of this stuff?
