New Rig

Postby Celtman » Sun Jun 24, 2007 4:55 am

Hi,
I'm starting to build a new rig, mainly to be able to max our FS9, however I may go to FSX once DX10 is released. I'm curious to know if I will be able to run FSX maxed out or not.

The specs are:

Intel Core2Duo E6600
Asus P5B Motherboard
BFG 640Mb Overclocked 8800GTS
4Gb DDR2 667Mhz RAM
720W PSU
Win XP (Vista Once DX10 comes out)

Any help appreciated  ;)

that rig looks good for FS9, maxed out, but alas no rig can max out FSX.  even with SP1 and the DX10 patch, its still very unlikely that the rig ur planning to build will max out FSX...

id wait for the other guys to make changes to ur list of parts, but what is your budget?

FS Water Configurator+ has new modifications in the works, plus DirectX 10, Service Pack
1, and Radeon HD 3+ Series support.

Thought no rig would max out FSX :D

Already bought the graphics card, my remaining budget is around

If you want a faster rig (and spend more money) try getting:
E6700
2x1gb DDR2-800 - Get RAM of this spec anyway instead of the DDR2-667
Radeon HD 2900XT - It has problems with some games. Read atleast five reviews before deciding (Lots of reviews are full of crap).

E6700

Not worth it. Rather an X6800 if he really wants to have a difference.

Radeon HD 2900XT - It has problems with some games. Read atleast five reviews before deciding (Lots of reviews are full of crap).

The GTS will suit just fine.

I agree on the DDR-800 Ram 'though (Corsair is very recommended). He could then make FSB and Ram speeds 1:1, since they are the most crucial settings if you want to push FSX's performance.

I can max out everything but traffic and get playable FPS. :D I bet a QX6700 and 2 GTXs in SLI would be able to get traffic close to maxed out at least.

What are you cooling your E6600 with? Water?

make sure yr rig can take 4 gigs memory - I think there is an issue with some Asus mobos and perhaps also Vista 32.
E6600 overclocked to 3400. Asus P5N E sli with 3GB memory, Vista and 7900GS vid card. new Pro Yoke and pedals
