Number of Drives in a RAID 0

I'm having a bit of trouble deciding between:

• 3 250GB
• 5 160GB

Would you go for the extra performance of 5 disks?  Or is it just not worth it and is the reduced heat and risk of drive failure better on 3 disks?

A note: Hopefully, by the end of December, I will have a fourth computer dedicated solely to backing up all information on all my computers, so the risk of data loss will be slightly negated.
