oh yeah, besides the fact that PCI is the worst standard for graphics, for many reasons, including the data going through the south bridge.
*the south bridge problem: your motherboard has 2 chipsets, a north bridge and a south bridge. the north bridge is closer to the CPU & Ram, and is clocked faster. but your PCI slots are connected through the south bridge, which is slower. so if the PCI card is "really fast" it will be throttled by the south bridge, and whatever else is connected (wireless card, IDE card, etc...)
looks like you have something round the Dimension 2400 series. it comes with an AGP reserved area, but its never installed...
im going to reccommend a new computer over a PCI card. the advantage of getting a PCI card is Minimal, and you will regret it later when it comes time for a new PC. save your money. short term loss, long term gain. no questions asked.Ramos
