Printers Question

Postby alrot » Thu May 31, 2007 7:47 am

Do you reload your own ink cadriges yourself or you keep buying the HP, epson, cannon etc

Just curiosity, why the Printers are so cheap and the Cadriges Colors & black triples the price of the own printer?  :-/ is it like this in your country?

I only use black ink, 'cos all I print is text...and I buy the original printer manufacturers ones for reliability...;)..!

And, yes, over here the Printers are sold at below cost to encourage us to buy them....then they sell us the ink at exorbitant prices to cover the cost, and make a profit... :o...!!

...Its called "Business"... ::)...!

I no longer buy replacement ink, it is cheaper buying a new printer that comes with ink, so when I run out I throw away the printer and get a new one.

I have been waiting for some environmentalist group to complain about landfills piling up with printers when a ink cartridge would take so much less space.....

I don't have a printer, but I think my parents refill them when they're empty.

In the U.S. some drugstores and other outlets are now selling reconditioned ink cartridges for about half the cost of new ones. Never tried one myself as it seems quality varies. I use a dot-matrix printer myself since I only print text and invoices. A ribbon costs me about $2.00 and lasts years.

The recycled cartridges are hit or miss. some seem to work fine and others not. I have seen some that have made such a mess it isn't worth it. And the ones that do work do so with less quality, or don't last as long.
Keep in mind that with many printers (unless something has changed recently) using anything but manufacturers ink cartridges will void what little warranty the printer has.

...as Poli says...

The only cartridges that seem to work reliably are the genuine ones recommended by the Printer Manufacturers....
...expensive though they may be... :o...!

Fortunately I have no use for Colour cartridges, so the genuine Black ones are worth the extra expense.. :)...!

Paul...(Don't you just love the sound of an Epson Dot-Matrix Printer?).... ;D...!

Alex....more junk for the Spare Room... ;)...?
