Scratched Disk

Postby a1 » Sun May 27, 2007 10:59 pm

Is there a solution to scratched disks? I am asking because some of my disks are a bit scratched up including my FS9 Disk 4 so i am a bit worried.

I bought a unit called Memorex OptiFix pro at Staples to clean and repair discs with. I have used it a few times and it works great but keep in mind if the scratch is to deep nothing will fix it.

How about the activation code if i need to buy a new FS9? Do I need to uninstall to get the new disk working?

A while in the freezer or toothpaste is said to make scratched disks readable again.

Google for more info.

Hair gel.... http://www.lifehack.org/articles/lifehack/repair-a-scratched-cd-with-hair-gel.html

Apparently hair gel fills in the scratch and restores the refractive properties so that the laser pickup doesn't bounce off all over the place. Not a permanent fix, but it's enough to let you copy the cd and it's a lot less work than polishing as well.

I reinstalled fs9 yesterday and NO mine atleast, did NOT require an activation key or cd key to use. If it were me I would just burn the folder out of your harddrive then errr. "swap the .exe another",
