New to the FS world

Postby Dan Morera » Thu May 10, 2007 9:05 pm

Hi guys I bought my first FS this week (FS9) and I have seen a lot of things in this and other forums regarding bad performance due to a computer that it is not fit for the task, so I wanted to know if any of you is using a set up like mine and getting good results. I'm very interested on getting screen shots as beautiful as the ones I've seen here........well at least I'll try my best  :-[

This is my set up:

Intel (R) Pentium(R) D CPU 3.00GHZ (2CPUS)
1 GB RAM
DIRECT X9
RADEON X300 SE 128 MB HYPERMEMORY (ATI) 32 BIT 60HZ
160 GB Hard Drive

Thanks for any comments guys
Dan

It is great to run FS9. My specs (the sig) runs FS9 quite well. Except for the drop of FPS around largely populated autogen and scenery. i can run FS9 maxed out at about 5-20 FPS depending on the area.

You would do good to drop another $200ish into is and grab an ATi X1950 Pro or nVidia 7950GT. The X300 is an underpowered card to begin with, and is a "RAM eater" So while you have 1024MB of RAM, the card is stealing at least 128MB of your system RAM. Replacing it with a deadicated gaming card will help out quite a bit. As for the screen shots, most are achieved with lots of add ons, and a lot of time tweaking the sim.

As Cameron has said ..... your graphics card needs upgrading to get any decent performance.... if you're going to go for the X1950 then you'll need to check that your power supply will handle the extra load.

True that, and since it looks like you have a dell, I can tell you right now you need to replace the supply.

Ditto all that... the CPU and RAM are more than adequate, but that's a clunky card for FS9 and the PSU that came with the machine will need upgrading for a proper card.
