X52 Pro Profiles?

Postby born_2_fly » Thu May 10, 2007 11:35 am

Heya guys,

I have just gone and bought the X52 Pro Joystick, and I'm really looking forward to actually using it, but I read in a review of the stick that there are 'profiles' that help gaming with FS2004.

I have searched google for X52 Pro, and simply X52 profiles, but nearly all of the results point to forums with people asking the same question as this!

Does anyone have any 'preferred' profile that they use? Or maybe one that have configured themself?

Could anyone point me towards a link?

All the best,
Alex  :D

I would have thought that 'Profiles' was you just a matter of setting up the Joystick buttons, etc, to your own satisfaction, whilst going through the default key list in the FS 2004/FSX keyboard options... ::)...?

It's what I did with my Saitek Cyborg Evo FF Joystick.... 8-)...!

Paul...X52's are for Helicopter Nuts!...;)... ;D...!

It's more or less for personal taste  ;)

On my X52, for example, I have T1 and T2 (Left most toggle switch) set for tailhook and wingfold. The thumb button near the slider on the throttle, is my spoilers. Pinky trigger is smoke on/off and the thumb button near the two hat switches is gear up/down (Trigger is brake, obviously).

Now, that's just my personal taste. I haven't gone too in-depth with the controls*, while still keeping enough functionality and simplicity to get the job done (*Setting up one mode for take-off/landing, another for navigation/in-flight operations, etc).

As I said, it's all up to personal taste. One profile might be for the die-hard flight simmer who refuses to use button short cuts on the keyboard, while another might just have the basic functionality so that they can enjoy a quick flight here and there.

I suggest trying things out and seeing how you like it. Sit there and picture yourself flying. You're on approach, and you need to put your gear down. What button do you see yourself pressing to do that? That's how I did mine  ;)

Thanks guys  :D

The real reason I asked was because the review I read suggested 'personalised' profiles that suggested that the ones from the Saitek site wern't very 'ergonimically' designed, and that better ones were available on the the net.

After hearing your comments I think I will make a personalised profile, as I suppose everyone has different habits etc.

Many thanks,

Alex  :D

For Clarification
